I've registered my child, what's next?

Registration is now CLOSED. Refer to the information below if you wish to place your child on the Waitlist.

Registration is now CLOSED and WSA currently has an over-enrollment in the MiniWee program so there are no spots available in the MiniWee program this season.   Click here if you wish to place your U5-U12 child on the Waitlist.  If you are a returning participant and missed the Open registration opportunities, you must now submit a request for the Waitlist.   Emails send to the generic email address listed on this website or to WSA Volunteers will not be accepted as Waitlist requests.  Please click on the link above for instructions. *Waitlist fees will be in effect.

WSA needs Head Coaches to run its programs; every team must have one Head Coach.  Enrollment will be limited if WSA does not have enough Head Coaches signed up by the final registration date.  Volunteer Application forms must be submitted to the Hillsborough County Athletic Dept. for background checks and the County requires approximately four weeks to process applications.  Due to the time constraints and limited resources WSA may not be able to try to recruit coaches after Final registration so there may be no notification to parents if there is a shortage of Head coaches.  Emails enquiries regarding the status of the coaching situation will not receive a response.  Refunds will be sent to those affected, via mail.  If you are interested in coaching your child's team, please review the Frequently Asked Questions about coaching.

Coach's Volunteer Application Form
(Pre-printed forms will be available for returning coaches)

If you will not  be available for the registration dates/times, you may send a friend or relative to register your child.  Provide them with the information required (see What is required for Registration) and give them a pair of the child’s shorts and a t-shirt to bring to registration for uniform sizing.

What is required for registration? Click here for more information.

Legal Birth Certificate is required for all NEW participants. Read important details below.

We are required by our insurance provider to keep a copy of every participant's birth certificate on file.  This must be a legal birth certificate (please click link to see what is acceptable/not acceptable).  Be sure to bring the original AND a legible photocopy of your child's birth certificate if they did not participate in a WSA program during the past two years.  Registration will NOT be accepted unless you leave a copy of the birth certificate.  Unfortunately, due to the additional administration involved, we do not have the volunteer resources to accept faxing, dropping off or mailing of birth certificates after registration.

Pre-printed registration forms will be available for all returning participants from the past season; a copy of the birth certificate is on file for these players so it will not be required for registration.

Age Groups:  We anticipate fielding Under 5, Under 6, Under 7, Under 8, Under 10 and Under 12 age groups providing there are sufficient volunteer coaches available. The fee for these age groups is $80.  New (and some returning) participants in the Under 7, Under 8, Under 10 and Under 12 age groups must participate in a 15-minute  mandatory Skills Assessment in order to complete registration--the date for Skills Assessment will be published on the Teams & Schedules page.   For safety reasons, children attending Skills Assessment sessions must wear soccer cleats and shin-guards in order to be allowed to participate.

Each participant will receive a uniform and a participation award at the end of the season.   Participants are required to wear shin-guards and soccer cleats.  Games are played on Saturdays with one or two practices during the week.  The Under 5/6 teams usually practise once a week, whereas the U7, U8, U10 and U12 teams usually practise twice a week.  Practice days and times will be determined by the team's coach, based on their own personal schedule.   Therefore, WSA cannot provide schedules in advance of the season.  If your child is involved with other activities or you anticipate transportation/scheduling issues that may conflict with WSA activities, please note that requests for refunds or for players to be reassigned to teams will not be honored.  Field locations will be published on this website once they have been finalized--tentative locations for games (which will be held on Saturdays) are Westchase Recreation Center and Glencliff Park.  Tentative practice location is Glencliff Park.  WSA does NOT have access to a lit facility for evening practices.  The  season is tentatively scheduled to begin in March and will end by May 22, 2010.

Please view Spring 2010 Age Brackets for player eligibility BEFORE coming to registration.

MiniWee Program:  This program will be offered as an introduction to soccer to children who are 3½ to 4½ years old by the cutoff date not the date the program begins (see Age Brackets) .  The fee for this age group is $65.  The MiniWee program will run for 5 weeks and is tentatively scheduled to begin in April and will end by May 22, 2010.   The sessions will be held on Saturdays only and will be approximately 45 minutes.   Participants are required to wear shin-guards and soccer cleats.

Volunteers are always needed!  Click here for Non-Coaching Volunteer Opportunities  Email us if you can volunteer.
