Ive
registered my child,
To avoid
missing important emails from WSA, please add Westchase Soccer's domain:
westchasesoccer.org to your "Safe Senders" list. What do I need to do about Skills Assessment? Only the new and some returning participants who will be
assigned to U7, U8, U10 and U12 teams are required to participate in a Skills Assessment
session. Returning
participants' forms indicated whether or not they are required to participate in Skills
Assessment. If your child was signed up to attend a
Skills Assessment session, you must make sure they wear shin guards and soccer cleats in
order to participate in a Skills Assessment session. Exceptions will NOT be made
for those without the proper equipment--this is a safety issue.
Children who do not participate in a Skills Assessment session, for any
reason, will not be
assigned to a team and a partial refund will be issued (refer to the FAQ's
for details on this policy). Whats going on behind the scenes? The WSA Board begins the process of putting the teams together for the upcoming season. Every season the Board has the difficult challenge of recruiting HEAD coaches during the team-building phase because there are usually not enough volunteers and/or volunteers change their mind about coaching after submitting applications. Since we do not have the volunteer resources to try to recruit Head coaches after registration, and it impacts deadlines with vendors, etc., refunds will be issued if there are not enough Head coaches signed up by the final registration date. There are individuals who refuse to provide their social for the background check and others who rescind for one reason or another. When this happens it is difficult to try to recruit replacements after the teams have been built so we encourage parents to volunteer at registration to avoid us having to reduce enrollment in a program. Refunds will be issued by March 6 to those who have not been assigned to U5 - U12 teams (providing WSA received sufficient notification from volunteers who rescind their offer to coach their child's team). WSA also needs volunteer referees so if you can't coach because you can't make the week-day commitment, please consider volunteering to be a referee. We allow parents to referee their own child's game if they feel it is more convenient. When do the coaches get their team info? Coaches will receive their team rosters before the Coaches meeting (the date is listed on the seasons Calendar of Events, which is available on the Teams & Schedules page of the website). Uniforms will be distributed to teams prior to the first game day or MiniWee session. When do the
players get called? The coaches MAY contact parents a few days before the first Saturday practice (or MiniWee session) to inform you of the schedule. Most coaches will send an email to all parents instead of calling. They may give you all the information you need in regards to practice times and location. Each coach sets his/her own weekday practice days, time and location. If the email address or phone number on your child's registration form was not legible, you may not be contacted by the coach. The date, time and location of the first Saturday practice, MiniWee session, team assignment information and coaches contact information will all be published on the Teams & Schedules page of the website. It is the parent/guardian's responsibility to find out their childs team, coach, and date of first practice or MiniWee session by visiting the website. How often are practices and games? Practices are held once or twice a week (days and times to be determined by your childs coach). WSA does not have access to lit fields for weekday practices. Games will be on Saturdays--refer to the Teams & Schedules page for details. There will be no practices for the MiniWee program which begins several weeks after the U5-U12 program. Parents were encouraged to review the FAQ's before registering their children so they are aware of our policies. The FAQ's state that WSA cannot accommodate requests for children to switch teams due to conflicts with practice dates/times selected by their coach and refunds will not be issued. WSA cannot accommodate requests submitted after registration for MiniWee players to be placed on the same team. Requests must be made when the registration forms are submitted; it is an administrative burden to try to do this after registration so please do not send emails with team placement requests. What else does my child need? The U5 U12 registration fee includes: complete uniform (jersey, shorts, socks) and an end of season award. The MiniWee registration fee includes jersey, ball and end of season award. Parents must purchase shin guards and soccer cleats (this is applicable to ALL age groups). Parents must also purchase a size 3 ball for U5 U8 participants, size 4 ball for U10 U12 participants. The season is about to begin and I have not been contacted by my child's coach. What should I do? Please do not panic if you see teams practicing and you have not been contacted by your childs coach. Not all programs begin at the same time. The MiniWee program does not begin until several weeks after the U5 - U12 program begins--refer to the Teams & Schedules page for dates. Some coaches may be out of town, the email address or contact information on the registration form may be illegible--these are a few reasons why you may not have been contacted. To find out your childs team, coach, and first practice information visit the Teams & Schedules page. Please check the Age Divisoin chart to determine the age group your child belongs to before viewing the Team Assignments. Please
