Rand Fortin

Saturday, March 13, 2010 marked the 10-year anniversary for the Westchase Soccer Association.  Rand Fortin has been a volunteer referee since WSA’s inaugural season, refereeing two games every Saturday, every season.  A CountryWay resident, Rand was a familiar face to many coaches, parents and children.  Over the past year, Rand  became even more involved with WSA by assisting with recruiting coaches at registration and conducting Skills Assessment.

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that Rand passed away on the morning of Saturday, March 13.  He was 42, single, with no children.  Rand was not just a dedicated Westchase Soccer volunteer, who unselfishly devoted his time to the league over the past 10 years, Greg and I considered Rand our friend.  Rand was also instrumental in starting up the “Sunday Morning Soccer” group, initially comprised of Westchase Soccer referees, coaches and parents, who played at Glencliff Park.  We are deeply saddened and shocked by Rand’s sudden passing and this is a tremendous loss to our community and to us personally.
