| This program will be offered to children 3
½ to 4
½ years old as an introduction to soccer. Players must meet the age
eligibility requirements so please refer to the Age Division chart on the Registration
page. Players must be 3
½ to 4
½ by the cutoff date indicated in the Age Division
chart, not the date the MiniWee season begins.
Note: Parents who wish to have their child play up to the Under 5 age group must commit to being the Head Coach of their child's team and submit a Volunteer Application by the Final Registration date in order for their request to be considered. Requests will be reviewed by the WSA Board and decisions will be made on a case by case basis. Parents who wish to make a request for their child to play up to the Under 5 age group should read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) before submitting a request. |
| Program Details: |
| The MiniWee program is designed to introduce soccer
through fun, instructional activities. The program will be led by our Player
Development Officer (PDO). Participants will be divided into teams and the program
will run for five weeks. Teams in this program do not play each other; however, a
scrimmage among participants on the same team may be held at the end of a session.
Sessions will be held on Saturdays (only) and will last approximately 45 minutes.
MiniWee teams do not have weekday practices. Teams will be on a rotating schedule so
session times will change from week to week. If a participant misses a session, they
may not attend another team's session. There are no make up sessions or refunds for
missed sessions. The first 30 minutes of each session will be conducted by the PDO
and the final 15 minutes will be led by the team's Assistant Coach. Participants
must wear cleats, shin-guards and should bring water. Each participant will receive
a jersey, soccer ball and medal. MiniWee Assistant Coaching: The commitment to be a
MiniWee Assistant Coach will be minimal because the Player Development Officer (PDO) will
run the first 30 minutes of every MiniWee session (which will be held on Saturdays only). The MiniWee Assistant Coach (one assigned per team)
will assist the PDO during the first 30 minutes and will be left to run the last 15
minutes of the session after receiving guidance and instructions from the PDO. This page contains general information about the MiniWee program. Please visit the Registration and Schedule pages on our website for season-specific information. |
